InNEVator 2017 is a one-of-a-kind IoT-focused bootcamp hosted through The Innevation Center University of Nevada, Reno – Powered by Switch and sponsored by the University of Nevada, Reno, Breadware Inc. and Watershed Growth Ventures.
Our goal is to add to Reno’s growing tech community by helping to grow companies within a supportive community. Companies selected to participate in the 6-week bootcamp will work directly with experts to accelerate development of prototyping, creative thinking, commercialization, seed-funding, planning and operations, customer engagement, and other aspects of business. Mentorship and introductions to investors are core elements of the bootcamp.
The University of Nevada, Reno provides the resources and facilities of a high-impact research university, Watershed Growth Ventures brings the experience of three solid tech entrepreneurs with over $1B of successful exits, and Breadware, Inc. provides IoT expertise and tools.
This is a funded bootcamp supported by investors and sponsors. Each applicant selected for the 6-week program will receive pre-seed funding to cover expenses for housing, meals and development costs. In exchange for a three percent SAFE, companies will receive $20,000.
The focus for InNEVator 2017 is on IoT-enabled technology. Applicants should have a technical background and should have a project that integrates their technological concepts and expertise with IoT to create a marketable platform or product.
It is anticipated that each team will consist of two people though one to four-person teams will be considered. Each applicant’s project can be in its early stages, such as a viable concept with engineering proof-of-concept and market validation. It can also be further along, with a minimum viable product and some level of customer engagement.
Four to six hours of programmed curriculum will be provided weekly. This will include subjects such as online marketing, intellectual property protection, basic accounting, fundraising, go-to market strategy, and project management.
In addition to programmed sessions, each group will have access to a mentor in their area of work. Activities and outings outside of work will be arranged to explore the Reno and Lake Tahoe area.
